Soft Magnetic Components

With Carbonyl Iron Powders

Soft Magnetic Composites

Next-generation soft magnetic composites (SMCs) are of particular importance to our business.

These materials are essential for developing new electrical devices that need and feature magnets and inductors. Several sectors use SMCs, including the auto industry, power electronics, wind and solar energy, telecommunications, and compressors.

The newest, highest performing SMCs use carbonyl iron powders. Two Planet Steel can supply these powders.

Next Generation SMCs

The materials used in SMCs is currently evolving. Until recently, SMCs were largely made with gas atomized particles. However, carbonyl iron particles have recently emerged as a material that can help create far more efficient SMCs. New SMCs with iron carbonyl powders lead to lower energy losses.

Pathway to Success

Our relatively simple runway to success is to develop and manufacture the necessary technology Western powder metallurgical (PM) companies will need to make carbonyl iron powders in-house. Two Planet Steel can focus on developing the process to make very small, high purity particles of iron at a low cost of manufacture.

Established Western PM companies will need reliable supplies of the carbonyl iron particles so that they can benefit from selling the new SMCs. These PM companies do not now make carbonyl iron powders in-house.
