Clean Steel
The world should have steel made with zero-CO2 emissions.
Steel Today: Global Necessity, Global Problem
Steel is a necessity in today’s world. The global demand for steel has steadily increased, growing 122% from 2000 to 2023, and is expected to continue. The steel industry is responsible for approximately 8% of global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This is a problem for the Earth’s atmosphere; this is a problem for everyone. Coal-driven blast furnaces are the main cause of these sky-high emissions.
Something must change.
Our Roles
We are a startup. We have some tech and a vision. Our prime objective is to make clean, zero-emission steel a practical reality. We have two paths to this objective. One is to offer clean steel products of our own.
Our second path extends beyond our own product development to further clean steel technologies on a broader scale. We aim to do this through several key initiatives:
- Consulting: Collaborating with large industrial corporations who we believe are well-positioned to produce clean steel.
- Advocacy: Supporting legislation that promotes zero-emission steel production.
- Consumer Engagement: Clearly communicating the value of clean steel to consumers to raise awareness and drive demand for sustainable steel products.
- Research: Determining how to accurately assess the value of clean steel. Current low estimates of the value of zero-emission steel gives a false picture of the costs of operating a clean steel plant. More fully understanding the factors that increase the value of clean steel will encourage more companies to undertake clean steel production.
